Reading is my addiction, but stories tend to stay with me/become a part of me then I worry that it diminishes my voice as a writer down to some garbled, juxtaposed shit pile of ideas that I am confusing as my own. Have you ever experienced this?
Consider practicing your skill by mimicking a specific writer for several weeks, and recognizing their tricks. In Tom’s workshop, all newcomers begin by aping his style. The ones who succeed do so by mixing his tricks with those they’ve copied from other writers and tricks they’ve learned from people telling stories in groups — parties, etc..
So only read one writer for six months, and simultaneously trying to write in that style. It works.
“Have you ever heard a girl say she’s in the friend zone? It’s a thing I think men need to be really careful about using. Do I think men and women can be friends? Yes, absolutely. Do I think men and women who are sexually attracted to each other can just be friends? Eh, it will probably become an issue at some point whether you deal with it, and talk about it and just move on, but it will always sort of get dealt with eventually. I definitely think the idea of friend zone is just men going, ‘This woman won’t have sex with me.’”—Daniel Radcliffe. (via neuers)
All right no I’m not done with The Fires of Pompeii.
I took a break from watching it to do some other things and I only just finished it now and I’m not done being angry. (I’m sure many variations on this post already exist, but I’m writing my own post anyway…

Shut the fuck up about vaccinations. Not everyone has to have them, not everyone believes in them. Uneducated fuck.
You know, my homie and secret best friend Neil deGrasse Tyson said it best….
This isn’t an issue of belief or should even be up for discussion. It’s not a debate- like gravity or that the Earth revolves around the Sun isn’t up for debate. It’s a fact, whether or not you like it. Sorry bro.
And any ‘educated fuck’ knows that vaccines are necessary and everyone who can have them should have them.
“Not every white person is a racist, but the genius of racism is that you don’t have to participate to enjoy the spoils. If you’re white, you can be completely oblivious, passively accepting the status quo, and reap the rewards.”—Mychal Denzel Smith, White People Have to Give Up Racism (via deux-zero-deux)
